Reimagining nature's packaging

Sustainable packaging alternatives to plastic that don't compromise on performance or aesthetic.

Introducing Vivomer

At Shellworks we believe there is a better way to package products. After two years of experimentation and testing, we are launching Vivomer.

Vivomer is a completely vegan and compostable material, made with a little help from friendly microbes. We’re excited to introduce the future of packaging for a post-plastic world.

Truly Compostable

Designed to degrade, Vivomer won’t leave behind any microplastics. At the end of life, microbes abundant in soil and marine environments consume the material.

Mass Producible

Engineered for industry-standard production, Vivomer can fit in with your mass manufacturing processes - enabling you to be sustainable at scale.

Compatible

Formulated to suit personal care applications, Vivomer is shelf-stable in storage and is compatible with both water-based and oil-based emulsions.

Form & Function

Designed to be beautiful, we are able to incorporate a range of natural dyes into Vivomer to meet your brand needs without compromising on sustainability.

There must be a better way

Consumers take on the burden of sorting their recycling, however, only 9% of plastics are effectively recycled with 12% being burned and the remaining 79% polluting our environment.

Grown by nature, our packaging performs like plastic but without the detrimental effects at its end of life, remaining benign to the environment as it’s consumed again by the same microbes that created it. Similar to tree branches, Vivomer will degrade organically given its origins are natural as well.
